ISS

Yesterday was a clear almost mid summers like day which made it a good opportunity to see the ISS (International Space Station) fly over, well across the horizon anyway! The sighting was due at 6.54pm at an elevation of about 20 degrees so, with my camera setup with a 5 second exposure, aperture of f/5 and ISO 1600. Here are the results…

This one is difficult to spot but, it’s the white streak more or less in the center of the image just above the trees, the two bright objects in the sky are Jupiter and Venus (the brightest)

Another not so great shot but, I like it anyway. You can just see it through the top branches.

And finally the best shot, clearly visible moving at 17,500 miles per hour, the white streak represents 24 miles in 5 seconds!!
